Jesse Owens gave an inspiring speech to the athletes and audience at the State Track and Field Finals at Jefferson. Owens is known for having broken three world records and tied one more, all in 45 minutes in 1935. He went to Berlin where he won four gold medals in the Olympics.
After their victory lap the Vikings track and field team posed for their photo. In six years the teams of Holliday and Berry had won the state title four times.

Others that week: Athletic Banquet, outstanding TES teachers, soil proclamation, TPS field day, tobacco barn.
