1981 Fire at Sears Roebuck House

January 21, 1981

The information we received back in 81 was that Marvin Flanders had built the Sears Roebuck house in 1921. The Gainer family was living there and burning trash in the backyard when the shed caught fire.  It burned down and the back of the house was scorched.  It's on the corner of US 221 South and Mount Olive Way near Mount Olive Church.
We didn't see the exact model on the sears link, but you may find the images interesting  http://www.searsarchives.com/homes/byimage.htm

Others that week: Sportsman's Club winners, 4-H awards at TES, Darrell Holton's collards, basketball, Clayton with M. L. Calhoun, Judges Douglas, Towson, Warnock, and White, Gene Bowers, Winford Smith, Adine McArthur, Bobby Cammack, Gary Ladue.

The house today, January 21, 2011.
