YOU ARE THERE - December 17, 1980

After 19 1/2 years in Soperton the Gene Brooks family announced a move to Gainesville's Lakewood Baptist Church.

The revised census figures showed Treutlen County population at 6,008 and Soperton 2,930.

"50 Years Ago" Dec. 19, 1930 - Rev. and Mrs. J. A. Reiser were welcomed to Soperton Baptist Church.  They lived on South Third Street at the house later occupied by the Treutlen Waller family (Geiger residence in 2010).  Their neighbor Bill Hall said that the Reisers liked to sit on the front porch during thunderstorms to observe God's handiwork.

TES Students of the Month: Jennifer Cauley, Sonya Jackson, Tina Herndon, Renee Wright, and Maria Gillis.
