YOU ARE THERE - December 24, 1980


"The Year in Review" was written by J. Clayton Burke, Jr.

James Windsor wrote about Joe Parham, award-winning columnist for the Macon Telegraph, who had died.  He had written over 5,000 newspaper columns.  Ricks had served with him on the newspaper awards committee meeting two weeks previously.

Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Kea donated a flower stand to Lothair UMC in memory of Mr. and Mrs. Morris Newsome.

Red Bluff, Rosemont, and Lothair UMC were among churches holding Christmas programs.

Soperton Manufacturing Company honored employees: Carolyn Thigpen, Jeanette Anderson, and Dorothy Smith (20 years); Sona Carter, Julia Dykes, Barbara Morris, Judy Wade, Louise Coney, Carol Coleman, and Evelyn Moxley (10 years).

Mrs. Wickstrom's class played with a pinata.

Elvis's Golden Hits were performed by the THS Band in Christmas Concert.

Dub Douglas was appointed to the newly created Superior Court judgeship.
