YOU ARE THERE - October 1, 1980


Football fans are wondering if this week's rain is reaching all the way to Blackshear, and if their stadium as as low as the swamp at Patterson's was two years ago.

Voters registration extended to October 6th.

Historical Society commemorated the 200th birthday of Gov. George M. Troup.

The Julia Gay WMU Circle met at Harmony with Mrs. Minnie Lee Sweat bringing the program.

The THS Band attended Band Day at UGA - Reported by Cynthia Hall.

Rebekah Brooks was a graduate assistant in geology at University of Tennessee.

Lisa Morgan was Teen of the Week.

Teresa Higgs and Beth Cullens attended the Braves-Astros game.

City of Soperton took bids for lighting the new tennis courts.

Vikings beat Montgomery, 21-7.

Tim Grinstead won the FFFA corn contest, followed by Jason Carter and Kendall Mimbs. It was a bad year for growing corn.
