YOU ARE THERE - October 15, 1975


Will Peterson presented the VChrter of the newly reogranied Cub Scout Pack (#556) to Rev. Bernard Henry. There were two dens and 16 boys.

Darrell Stephens was taken hostage at the Morris State Bank (Dublin) robbery. Sargent Kent Craft, 31, was apprehended at the Lovett Bridge and was charged with kidnapping, auto theft, and bank robbery. Craft was from a prominent family in Columbia, SC.

Buck Crumpler's letter to the editor praised the varsity  football team members as "Profiles in Courage"- JFK's book.

How many marriage licenses were issued in Treutlen County in its first year of operation, 1919?  Twice as many as any year afterward.  There were 144.  The 1920 Census recorded the highest Treutlen County population ever.

"Aunt Jeanne" published a very cute photo of three-year-old Rhonda McLendon.

Olive Branch died at age 86 She was widow of Chap T. Branch.

W. R. Hardy and Eulie Keene both offered their photos for publication of Soperton's first football team (six players, not 11).

Vikings lost 48-0 at Twin City.

"The Apple Dumpling Gang" was playing at the New Pal in Vidalia.
